Clinico-Etiological Profile and Outcome of Neonatal Seizures - A Hospital-Based Cross-Sectional Study in Western Nepal

INTRODUCTION
 Neonatal seizure, a common problem encountered in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting, is an important determinant of outcome neurological disorders newborn period. The aim the study was to clinical and etiological profile seizures along with their outcomes.
 MATERIAL AND METHODS
 A prospective observational conducted NICU Department Pediatrics at Universal College Medical Sciences, Bhairahawa, Nepal from November 2019 March 2021. Babies were enrolled after obtaining written consent parents.
 RESULTS
 Out 870 admitted neonates, 9.7% (n=85) developed where 62.4% males. Most cases (87.1%) had within 48-hour life subtle (92.9%) being commonest. About 43.5% single episode seizure followed by multiple episodes. Perinatal asphyxia either alone and/or associated hypocalcemia (80%) sepsis (40%) hyponatremia (18.8%) etiologies for seizures. (76.5%) aborted use anti-epileptic drug. 86% (n=73) survived rest expired.
 CONCLUSION
 Subtle perinatal predominant etiology Thus, strengthening healthcare facility during delivery newborn, proper nutrition must be emphasized decrease incidence developing nations like Nepal.
